Back from an exhausting week of teaching at Fundación Tónica and playing at the Jalisco Jazz Festival! So proud to have been working alongside such a passionate team of musicians including Brian Lynch, Michael Blake, Charlie Hunter, Scott Amendola, my brothers in the Frost Sextet and so many others.

These programs do a whole lot for helping bring music education to Mexico and I'm proud to have been a small part of what they do.

Kudos to them!! Click here to learn more about Fundación Tónica

2/27 David's recital

Hello! It's been a busy couple of months and I've made some incredible music! Earlier this month, I played my Senior recital for the Frost School of Music with some of my best friends in the world. The program featured music I'd written for sax trio and a quintet and also featured a piece I wrote for a nonet with four brass and rhythm section. This nonet was split up into three movements; the middle movement was an arrangement of one of my favorite themes in the whole world, the theme from Holst's "Jupiter". The piece also featured some conduction and group improvisation- it was a total blast!

Hello! I've had a packed few months and am happy to finally a few days off and spend some time with my family. Going backwards, working with trombonist and composer Alan Ferber last week was a total blast. I've been a fan of his music for a while and preparing it alongside him and CJB was a dream come true. The week before that, I turned 22! To celebrate, I wrote a set's worth of arrangements and originals to feature a band of musical mentor/ heroes/ friends. That band featured John Daversa- trumpet, Martin Bejerano- piano, Lowell Ringel-bass, and Evan Hyde- drums.

Early November included performances with Sound Underground (SU), Terence Blanchard at the Arsht Center, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Seattle-based trumpetist and composer Samantha Boshnack, The Frost Sextet, #bicmnrosfulmfrenh, and a performance as part of the Miami Sax Summit among others! I also cant forget to mention SU's quick trip to Bulgaria to play the Haskovo Jazz Festival- what an incredible time we had hanging over there for Independence Day! Cant wait to see what December and 2016 have in store!

David
