2016 has been a year with many personal challenges for me and as a result a great year for personal and musical growth. I played with so many great musicians and had so, so many deep, deep experiences. I can only hope that the coming years will keep being like this! Many thanks to all my friends, colleagues, and fans that I get to share music and life with- you all make it that much better and our connection is what keeps me (and all of us) going.

Looking forward to making lots of music in the new year! Kicking it off with...

What a great past few weeks its been! In spite of all of the awful things going on with politics and people relations, I'm very grateful that I've been able to make art through it all. Last night, I played with the master player and master hanger, jazz messenger, and world traveler BROfessor Brian Lynch - what a treat!

The week before, I joined Pete Francis and the Miami Big Sound Orchestra for some big band music in the tradition of Machito and his band. Such a cool thing to be a part of in the heart of 8th street in Domino Park. Heard some amazing street musicians down there too....certainly trying to hang out more on Calle Ocho after that one! I joined Jean Caze's Amede at the historic Ball and Chain down there too- its always super fun playing with them.

Quiet Spaces is now available on Itunes, CD Baby, Bandcamp and other places- check it out! So happy about how it turned out and we hope you'll love it.

Join us for the Miami CD Release show at the WDNA Jazz Gallery on October 14th, 8pm!

This site has been completely re-designed by the hardworking and talented Rick Perez! I’ve got lots of new music, photos and updated content on these pages- feel free to peruse around. Stay tuned and join the mailing list, official Facebook, Twitter, or Soundcloud pages for updates from me too!

I’m very grateful for all the incredible work that Rick has put into this site… if you like what he does, check him out here!

Thanks for visiting,

David

Back from an exhausting week of teaching at Fundación Tónica and playing at the Jalisco Jazz Festival! So proud to have been working alongside such a passionate team of musicians including Brian Lynch, Michael Blake, Charlie Hunter, Scott Amendola, my brothers in the Frost Sextet and so many others.

These programs do a whole lot for helping bring music education to Mexico and I'm proud to have been a small part of what they do.

Kudos to them!! Click here to learn more about Fundación Tónica
