What a great past few weeks its been! In spite of all of the awful things going on with politics and people relations, I'm very grateful that I've been able to make art through it all. Last night, I played with the master player and master hanger, jazz messenger, and world traveler BROfessor Brian Lynch - what a treat!

The week before, I joined Pete Francis and the Miami Big Sound Orchestra for some big band music in the tradition of Machito and his band. Such a cool thing to be a part of in the heart of 8th street in Domino Park. Heard some amazing street musicians down there too....certainly trying to hang out more on Calle Ocho after that one! I joined Jean Caze's Amede at the historic Ball and Chain down there too- its always super fun playing with them.

Nancy Wilson & Cannonball Adderley is one of my favorite albums of all time. You can imagine how giddy I was to play the role of Cannonball in tribute to that masterpiece of an album. Its pristine- and Melinda Rose loves Nancy Wilson as much as I love Cannonball. What a great night that was at The Fish House, be on the lookout for more of that show Miami! We'll be playing at the Open Stage and at the Miami Jazz Coop's Jazz at Jackson series!

Lastly, I was honored to play for a great cause standing in solidarity for hurricane recovery in Haiti. The event took place at WDNA radio and the night was beautiful- complete with Haitian folk music, poetry, jazz and food. It's so great to get to do things like this. Here is a picture from that night with dear friends Kenneth Jimenez and Rodolfo Zuniga playing as part of KJ Circles.

Until next time!
